SHORT STORY CONTEST HOSTED BY ANITA NAIR

We were overwhelmed by the staggering and enthusiastic response to the contest. Entries poured in from all corners of the country, from metros to small towns, from men and women who worked hard on their keyboards to tell a meaningful story.   Writer Anita Nair has chosen a winner and five runners-up and we extend our hearty congratulations to them. However, for us, each participant is a winner too because he or she has taken the time and effort to chisel out a story in words and capture the essence of India Poised and we wish them better luck next time.

Congratulations to Miss Swati Sapna on winning the Grand Prize for her story "Acceleration due to Gravity"

The Runners up prizes go to:

  1. Tannistho Ghosh for his entry 'The Dream Emperor's Day of Love'
  2. Savera Z Johm for her entry 'The New Indian'
  3. Veena Patwardhan for her entry 'Mission Possible'
  4. Neha Verma for her entry 'Wisdom of the Wise'
  5. Maansi Verma for her entry 'Procrastination Perfect'
Here are a few words from Anita on India Poised:
“An image of a one handed man exerting muscle, sinew and will to pull himself up a cliff wanders into my mind. And he will. For it is here India stands poised. A conundrum as always. Combining an increasing dissatisfaction with the everyday and the system. The need to start all over again. A search for hope and redemption. An increasing conviction that it is here, and here only, that dreams and a full life could possibly meld”
